About the Author:
Kermit Heartsong, author, publisher, and empirical scientist, has been a keen observer of the geostrategic developments of social, economic, and political systems for nearly three decades. He has written several nonfiction books―The United States of Mammon (2013), Illusions, Dystopia & Monsters (2014), and Ukraine: ZBIG’s Grand Chessboard & How the West Was Checkmated (2015), which have spoken to reality inside US Empire; wars of choice that facilitate wealth concentration, and the changing biospheric climate. Heartsong studied at the University of California Davis for his B.S.E.E with a dual major in Global Politics and a minor in Writing. Review:
"For those still taken in by the official Washington/Western narrative regarding events in the Ukraine, Baldwin and Heartsong's book provides a meticulously documented and highly engaging account that all but trashes that narrative. More revealingly, for those still inclined to embrace America's self proclaimed stature as a force for good in an increasingly unstable, chaotic and hostile global environment, the book will give them pause for deeper reflection. The source of most of that instability, chaos and hostility becomes clear for all but the most ideologically myopic and imperially inclined."

A powerful antidote to mainstream propaganda about the Ukraine Crisis. NATO leaders should read it to avoid sleepwalking into war with the superpowers of the 21st Century.

In this must-read book the authors offer an alternative reading of recent American history―a reading shockingly at odds with that of the mainstream press. They inform us that the so-called “Ukraine crisis” and the making of a bogey man of Putin derives from a larger chessgame the West has engaged in from the time we broke our promise to Gorbachev that NATO would not be expanded. They inform us that neocon ideologies are alive and well even in the Obama administration and that the West is in fact playing a losing game to Putin and his emerging ally, China. It is a sad and potentially scary story of ideologies run amok and seems especially ominous in light of the current presidential debates that shed more heat than light on current American history. This book signals a wake-up call even as it blows the whistle on America’s kept press for what it has not told us. The authors dare to fill in the gaping holes that constitute our collective ignorance. They have done their homework. They are courageous in their truth-telling. Will Americans listen?

From Zbig’s nineties’ strategy for US supremacy to the return of Nazism in Ukraine, courtesy of Neo-cons, and how the Russian Bear and the Chinese Dragon are check-mating the US, EU, and NATO across the Eurasian heartland, Ukraine: ZBIG’s Grand Chessboard & How the West Was Checkmated is an outstanding example of pragmatic geopolitical analysis and collaborative writing.

I’m not sure if there’s been a better written book published yet this year than Ukraine: Zbig’s Grand Chessboard and How the West Was Checkmated, but I’m confident there’s not been a more important one. With some 17,000 nuclear bombs in the world, the United States and Russia have about 16,000 of them. The United States is aggressively flirting with World War III, the people of the United States have not the foggiest notion of how or why, and authors Natylie Baldwin and Kermit Heartsong explain it all quite clearly.
