Engagingly written and impeccably researched, The History of Canterbury School: 1964-2014 tells the story of the transformation of a small coeducational elementary school on Park Avenue in Fort Myers, Florida into a leading and fully accredited independent college preparatory school. For the past six years, author Marnie Paulus has conducted extensive research and more than 150 interviews with Canterbury School students, teachers, board members, alumni, parents, and staff to create the school’s first comprehensive history. Her book highlights the ups and downs and watershed moments of Canterbury School throughout its 50 years. The reader will be surprised at the revelations of those who have impacted the school's evolution in their clear, candid, and courageous voices. It is evident that Canterbury educators have been devoted to developing life-long learning skills and a healthy skepticism in their students. Certain themes have persisted throughout the school’s first 50 years. Most important is the unparalleled quality of the teacher-student relationship. In fact, above all else this constant seems to have been the “north star” as Canterbury School has successfully navigated its first 50 years.
