A mean old codfish, living in the vast blue sea, frightens all the little fishes smaller than he. Then spectacles, aka glasses, fall into the water and fix themselves upon the codfish’s face. Looking through the lenses makes everything appear gigantic to him! Now it's the codfish that becomes afraid of all things swimming in the sea. Will he be afraid forever or will his sunken situation change?

Most, but not all my children's books, are about animals and a situation they are in. Almost all children are delighted by animal stories - whether the creatures are animals that perform like human beings, animals that behave like animals but can talk or animals that act like themselves whether there are people in the story or not. These are books for the very young - the two to the five-year-old range. The narrative is simplistic while allowing room for a child's imagination, emotion, and reasoning to evolve. Having worked as a lifestyle columnist for the Gannett Publishing Company, the Editor of Connecticut Country Life Magazine, a marketing and public relations writer and as an editor of Kalliope: A Journal of Woman's Literature and Art, nothing in the writing arena has provided me as much joy as creating children's picture story books in rhyme. It's my hope that you enjoy sharing these books with the young children in your life as much as I enjoy creating them.
