Robert A. Martin , a veteran of WWII and the Korean war has spent his life working with people in industry and education as a leader and teacher, as a training director, and management consultant. He taught management and human relations conferences at the California Institute of Technology, for companies such as the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Southern California Gas and Electric, Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Grand Canyon Lodges, etc. He learned the building trades from his father, and pursued that after his retirement from Caltech in 1985. He began designing and building custom homes in Lake Isabella, California. During his lifetime he has designed and built a total of 14 custom homes, including the home he and his wife Laurel live in today. This home was designed specifically for a foster home, built during the early 90s, and has provided a temporary home for over 140 children and young adults since 1995. Bob is 91 at the time of this printing and still has a house full of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
