Sara P. Schechter, J.D., served for 25 years as a judge in the Family Court of the State of New York and was co-chair of the Family Court Advisory and Rules Committee. Since her retirement from the bench in 2008, she has devoted her professional efforts to legal education and is currently a distinguished lecturer at the New York City College of Technology (CUNY), an adjunct faculty member at the Yeshiva University Cardozo School of Law, and a frequent presenter in training programs for the New York Unified Court System. In addition to authoring multiple editions of NEW YORK FAMILY LAW, Schechter has published articles in the New York Law Journal, Juvenile and Family Court Journal, Journal of Paralegal Education and Practice, and other prominent legal journals. She earned her J.D. from New York University Law School and her A.B. from Barnard College.
