Since the earliest days of man, weather has been the subject of continuing fascination. Despite central heating, air-conditioning, humidity control and numerous other advances which have made man less vulnerable to the elements, weather is still a matter of everyday interest. As a result, every substantial amount of weather information has been collected. During the past generation, regular observations by trained observers have been made all over the world. A massive array of statistics now lies at the disposal of those who want specific facts. But for the average citizen, the available data sources are too inaccessible or the meteorological reports are too unwieldy. The purpose of this reference work is to remedy this situation by providing, in convenient form, those weather facts which are most generally needed. The book is really the outgrowth of the editor's interest in flying. Having compiled a substantial amount of weather data for flight planning throughout the United States and elsewhere, it was a logical step to extend this information and arrange it in practical form.
