About the Author:

Jerry Hauser is co-founder and CEO of The Management Center,a nonprofit consulting firm. He previously served as COO of TeachFor America where he helped grow the organization from $8 millionto $38 million in annual revenue and from 3,000 to 17,000applicants annually. Jerry was an associate at McKinsey &Company and holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a B.A. from DukeUniversity. Jerry writes and speaks extensively on nonprofitmanagement and leadership.

Alison Green writes a weekly column on career andmanagement for the Money section of U.S. News & World Report'swebsite. She is also the founder of the popular Ask a Managerwebsite and blog.  Alison was the communications andpublications director for two grassroots advocacy organizations andspent six years as a staff writer and campaign coordinator forPeople for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
