Published in parts over the period 1840-1843, this book was finally finished in 1843 and sold in two volumes. Reprinted in 1858 by Bohn. McLean, VBD p.66 says "...it has considerable claim to be called the most handsome book produced in the whole of the nineteenth century ..." Ray lists the book as one in his list of 100 outstanding illustrated books produced over the period 1790-1914. Very minor wear to extremities.
