First edition, with presentations to Paul A. Bennett, longtime director of typographic design for Merganthaler, from the author Arnold Gingrich and from the designer W.A. Dwiggins. Agner 35.06 . Inscribed on the front free endpaper "For P.A. Bennett Esq, one loving slave of type to another [signature], Arnold Gingrich." Dwiggins who was responsible for the typography, binding, and jacked design inscribed the colophon page "To P. Bennett, As one loving consumer of apricots to another, [signature] Bill Dwiggins." This clearly was intended to lampoon the preceding inscription from the author. Printed at the Plimpton Press. Includes one contemporary Newspaper and magazine article reviews laid-in the back.
