Not illustrated. 1883 Excerpt: the finer qualities of goods, such as Rampur Chaddars and Jamewars, compare favourably with Gurdaspur and even with Amritsar. The Chaddars and Jamew&rs exhibited by Khwaja Ahsan Shah, which are priced low, are of unequalled manufacture, except in one Chaddar, sent by Davi Sahai and Chamba Mal of Amritsar, which is by far the finest in the Exhibition. The JamewSrs of Khwaja Ahsan Shah of Ludhiana, both fine and coarse qualities, are deserving of recognition, and this opinion is unanimously borne out by both European and Native members. (See remarks by Mr. Phelps.) One Doshala by him is much superior to a similar article from Gurdaspur. The exhibits of Abdulla are; numerous and fairly good, though too high priced.--The Simla exhibits, chiefly of warm clothing from Bashahir, are good, though prices are hjgh. We notice in particular one piece of Pattu, made by Pangbully, as Toeing excellent. The Kangra blankets are excellent and of a distinctive and-wellknown character. Very nice soft blankets (white and red) by Het Ram of Plach, and white and black, by Golabu, are excellent. It seems extraordinary that In speaking of the large display by Davi Sahai and Chamba Mal, the Committee, after a careful examination, are of opinion that the Chaddars sent are excellent and fairly priced. The one already referred to, in particular, is very fine: it is said to have cost Rs. 200 in its manufacture, Davi Sahai, &c., also sent some shawls. One of these (priced Rs. 650) is excellent, though it is probable, in the opinion of those acquainted with the manufacture, that some parts of this shawl must have been made in Kashmir, The same remark also applies to a shawl exhibited by Lala Hazari Mai, of Lahore, priced at Rs. 550.
