If scabs form, apply a little clean lard or vaseline occasionally to keep them soft. If necessary the treatment may be repeated on different spots at intervals of three weeks or so. Absolute rest during treatment is not necessary, but any work given should be lifrht and upon smooth ground. Applied as we direct, there is no danger of destroying the hair or producing a scar. If the trouble is detected early and there is yet swelling and heat in the part, make frequent cold water applications for a few days, or use the sedative lotion (formula given on another page). Follow with a light application of the Sweeny Care. Hip Sweeny is successfully treated in thf same way, unless due to lameness elsewhere, in which case the first attention should be given to the cause. Sent by mail to any address. 1 Shoulder Lameness Lameness in the shoulder is indicated by the animal carrying his head low, dragging the toe on the ground, swinging the foot outward in bringing it forward, ir standing with the joints bent and heel raised, but without advancing the lame foot in front of the other. Such lameness may be of a rheumatic nature, or due to strain or injury of some sort. In cases where there are no outward signs, such as heat or swelling, it is often very difficult to locate the seat of lameness. If the part is hot and swollen, apply two or three times a day the sedative lotion, formula for which is given on another page.
