Explorations is a collection of short stories written by Robert McAlmon and published in 1921. The book consists of ten stories, each exploring a different aspect of life in early 20th century America. McAlmon's writing style is characterized by its experimentalism and modernist sensibility, and his stories often deal with themes of alienation, disillusionment, and the search for meaning in a rapidly changing world. The stories in Explorations are diverse in subject matter, ranging from a portrait of a young woman struggling to find her place in the world, to a meditation on the nature of time and memory, to a surrealistic tale of a man who finds himself trapped in a labyrinthine hotel. McAlmon's prose is spare and poetic, and he uses imagery and symbolism to create a dreamlike atmosphere in many of the stories.Although McAlmon was not widely known during his lifetime, he was an important figure in the expatriate literary scene of the 1920s, and his work influenced many of the writers who would go on to become major figures in modernist literature. Explorations is a testament to his talent as a writer and his unique vision of the world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
