The 'New Look' style, with its small walstline and voluminous skirt, created an hourglass silhouette with refinement. This silhouette required structural undergarments such as corselets, bullet bras and petticoats to highlight the feminine form, In the fifties, fashion became available for the majority of people with the expansion of ready-to-wear designs and the mass production of clothes.
