Not illustrated. 1857 Excerpt: ...be rare sport Eor devils and salamanders.--Once the world Hung like a drop of water in the air; Now 'tis an atom of dust, and, by and by, It is to go out like a spark of fire; And so God puffs the little wonder out: Hear this, ye little demigods of earth!--Now the swift hours are wearing to the morn, And silence reigns o'er all the populous town; Save now and then some figure in the gloom, Reeling or hurrying along the street To tell me that foul sin is yet awake, Or sorrow has not slept.
