As the verb jffof is regular, except in the past tense in 55T and past participle, it does not require to be exhibited at length in the paradigm. The past tense is % snt--&c' § 45. Defective Verbs. The defective verbs are 1-llftfsfj to be necessary, (from trftrof). This has in the 'simple present only the forms trnif and ijj«iy, and in the simple future, it has mfesisr, not common. It has no other simple forms. It forms compound tenses with ajjcfof-. The compound forms are given in the paradigm. 2. Jffif, not necessary, (from and frr the f being a weak consonant is changed to 3f). This, as a defective verb, has a meaning the opposite of nfe%. It has only the present tense; as, Jffit for 1st. and 3rd. sing, and 1st. and 2nd. pi. and qiffef and fjfcT for 2nd sing, and 3rd pi. See paradigm. This verb is likewise used to form the neg. imper. mode, 2nd pers. sing, and plural as,: ZRft, do not thou, %&:RJ"? do not ye. 3. inr and frp' there should be, let there be, it is necessary. Molesworth says in his Dictionary that this is a form of the infinitive mode of (flfr, and is better written or=jf. The verb is not much used. § 46. Inflection Of Verbs. The Marathi verb is inflected on account of person, gender and number. The terminations for the various modes and tenses, (the simple tenses), areas follows.
