Europ. Hem. 259, 5 (1861). Brownish, brownish-red, or reddish-yellow, thickly clothed with short yellow hairs. Head.--Crown convex, with a central line, and generally the margins of the clypeus and a line on the inside of each eye, pale yellow. Antenna; basal joint brown or brownish-pink, sparingly clothed with short, fine, almost erect, yellow or brown hairs; on the upperside with pale yellow spots, and generally, on the underside at the base, with a short piceous streak; 2nd and 3rd joints yellowish-brown; 2nd at the base pale yellow, immediately followed by a narrow blackish or brownish band; 4th piceous; occasionally the apex of the 2nd joint narrowly, and the apical half of the 3rd, are piceous. Rostrum; 1 st and 2nd joints yellowish; 3rd and 4th, and sometimes the apical half of the 2nd, piceous, or dark pitchy. Thorax.--Pronotum; sides almost straight, hinder angles very slightly raised: the posterior margin pale yellowish-white, somewhat depressed; disk with two callosities behind the collar; a short central line, and one on each side, in a line with the eyes, terminating behind the callosities, pale yellow. Scvtelhtm with a pale yellow central line and a brown streak on either side the apical portion sometimes uniting and leaving only the apex pale.
