For if they did but once proceed so far, as to reflect about it, or aik themselves any questions concerning it, they would soon fee, that the spirit of devotion was like any other sense or under/landing, that is only to be improv'd by study, care, application, and the use of such means and helps, as are necessary to make a man a proficient in any art, or science.
