About the Author

Alfred Delvau (1825-1867) est l une des figures majeures de la boheme litteraire de la fin de la Monarchie de Juillet et du Second Empire. Secretaire de Ledru-Rollin durant la revolution de 1848, il se lie avec le futur editeur Poulet-Malassis avec lequel il fonde "L Aimable faubourien: journal de la Canaille". Sa vie est celle d un polygraphe, passionne autant par les recherches erudites que par la description des pratiques bohemes de ses contemporains. Il s interesse a l erotisme, a la langue verte, aux cafes, et plus largement au Paris qui disparait alors dans les grands travaux. Il est un des grands journalistes de son epoque se prodiguant dans les titres de la grande et petite presse et, comme beaucoup de ses collegues, ils est epuise au contact de cette vie parisienne.
