Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

From School Library Journal:

Grade 4 Up-- Well-presented in a clean, open format, these six tales by the 19th- century writer have nothing of the musty archive about them. Tending toward interesting ideas that peaked and then rushed to tidy conclusion, de Morgan certainly had an unusual perspective, one that may appeal to some readers and repel others. The title story of a wicked princess who uses her beauty to trap suitors who become beads on her necklace seems to revel more in her success than in her victims' salvation. But she and the selfish owner of a mysterious cat in another story have a fascination that will probably interest more readers than the other stories, which all wallow in Victorian sentimentality--lovers searching in vain and dying of old age when they finally get together, maidens made of raindrops, a sunbeam and moonbeam who fall in love. This edition is enhanced, for the most part, by Monti's luminous watercolors. There is a sharp unpleasantness in the portrayal of some of the faces, which is probably intentional in the case of Princess Fiorimonde, but which carries over to others--even the cat. Still, the collection is of more than scholarly interest and may be appreciated in larger libraries.
