Spine slightly faded, slipcase lightly rubbed. 1967 Hard Cover. 158 pp. The illustrations consist of a frontispiece portrait of Addison and Steele and 30 wood-engraved head-pieces, one used at the opening of each essay. The essays themselves were first published in Addison and Steele's Spectator in 1711 and 1712, and are reprinted here from the Oxford edition edited by D.F. Bond.
