Synopsis
This book is a comprehensive Greek Accidence, and its approach and topics continue to inform the foundational teaching of Greek grammar today. In this text, the authors present the essentials of the Accidence in a simple form with a sufficient number of examples for practice. Through a tabular method, Thiersch’s method of teaching the formation of the tenses is adopted because it is admirably fitted for beginners, in both its simplicity and suitability to lead a pupil to correct notions of etymology, as the laws it exemplifies are general and dependent upon the nature and formation of articulate sounds. This book greatly simplifies this method, throwing the principal rules for the concurrence of consonants into a tabular form, and considering the terminations as simple terminations instead of decomposing them into termination and mood vowel.
