Excerpt from Can Mankind Survive
If for a time we could induce all people to study the new social forces at work with out heat or prejudice, with unflinching can dor, as the surgeon takes an X-ray photo graph of a broken bone in order to treat and heal it, the basis of an enlightenment which would save from destruction would be gained. N 0 other method can give us that basis. The old habit of anger at all honest social diagnosis is suicidal. Never before was the world in so evil and wholly perilous a state as now, and the stony pride in iniquity that has controlled the past will prevent a redeeming reorganization of mankind if it is not broken. Let us there fore proceed as if this base pride did not exist and as if modern men were united in the will to produce a world decent and fit to dwell in.

This enlightening book takes a critical look at the historical development of human society, exploring the reasons for the downfall of previous civilizations and examining the current state of humanity. The author argues that humans have sabotaged their own brains by selectively breeding for hostility and suppression of intelligence, resulting in a deformed brain structure that hinders progress. The book delves into the formation of the knave-slave dynamic, where the knaves live off the labor of the slaves, and the evolution of respectability, where the knaves have learned to justify their actions with theories of morality. It also explores the role of the doctrine of loving one's enemies in perpetuating this system of oppression. The book concludes with a discussion of the importance of intelligence and the need for a radical restructuring of society to break free from the cycle of destruction and create a more just and equitable world.
