The undulatory theory therefore being abandoned, we must recur to a corpuscular theory, with the principle of periodicity as an essential property of light; or the luminiferous corpuscles must be considered as flying off in surfaces, sheets, or shells from luminous points, with intervals (x) which are constant for the same colour of the solar spectrum, but which vary from colour to colour, and have the values in the table, page 70, Part I.
