Exposition. This is an explanation of time, place, persons, and general circumstances. When this in formation 18 given at the beginning of the story, it is called an introduction. Frequently, however, much of this information is reserved until a later point in the story.
Exciting Moment. As near to the beginning of the story as possible there should be placed a statement that will excite the interest of the reader and cause him to look forward eagerly to coming events.
Complication. -the plot begins with the exciting moment, and should proceed by introducing elements of con ict in such a way that doubt is cast on the outcome. Everything introduced, however, should point toward the outcome. The story should move all the time.
