Excerpt from A Century and Three-Quarters of Life and Service: Linden Hall Seminary, Lititz, Pennsylvania, 1746-1921
The historical background of this simple beginning, of high destiny, must center about the coming of Count Zinzendorf to America to visit the Bethlehem and Nazareth communities, the less compact settlements of Moravians elsewhere and the Indian missions. In the course of a farewell visitation, in 1742, the founder of renewed Moravianism preached at Jacob Huber's in Warwick Township in the stone house, still in use in 1921, which stands 500 yards west of the lititz-brunnerville and pennville-rothsville crossroads on the old Newport road. Klein, whose land adjoined Huber's, was prejudiced against Zinzendorf and it was only after a night of restless remorse.
