Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a play and tells the story of Harry Jasper who had hit a rough patch in life as a result of years of poor choices. He has lost most of his wealth, and his reputation is in tatters. When he is offered a job as a tutor to a young man, he accepts, hoping that this will be a chance to put his life back together and also to investigate a mystery regarding his father's past. The boy's father, Mr. Thornton, is a wealthy man who has been receiving anonymous letters threatening to expose a secret from his past. Jasper agrees to help Thornton find the blackmailer and clear his name. The play is set in the Victorian era of 19th century England and delves into the themes of morality, social class, friendship, and redemption. The author provides a historical glimpse into Victorian society, particularly the rigid class structure that existed in those times. Jasper's character development throughout the play and his transformation from a reckless young man into a responsible and caring individual forms the crux of the story.
