Excerpt from Freemasonry in the Holy Land, or Handmarks of Hiram's Builders: Embracing Notes Made During a Series of Masonic Researches, in 1868, in Asia Minor, Syria, Palestine, Egypt and Europe, and the Results of Much Correspondence With Freemasons in Those Countries
Agreeably to original promise, the book is adapted to the plainest reader; one that the owner will take home and read in his domestic circle, and afterwards lend to his neighbors to read equally a reference book to the student, and a hand-book to the traveller; large enough to embrace so great a subject, yet no effort has been spared to compress the information. The Common Gavel has been used remorselessly in striking of excrescences. Written in the spirit of the Holy Writings, French and German infidelity has not made sufficient inroads into American Masonry, that less than nineteen-twentieths will welcome additional light upon the Divine authenticity of the Bible, and such light I have attempted freely to diffuse through this volume.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a record of an expedition taken by the author to Palestine in 1868, commissioned by a group of American Masons to research and explore traditional sites of Freemasonry, and to collect relics of ancient days. The author, who was a Freemason and a widely respected lecturer on Masonic topics, visited sites such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Tyre, and Gebal. He sought to illuminate the relationship between the Holy Scriptures and the Masonic rituals, particularly in regard to their shared use of ancient symbols and teachings. The resulting book includes the author's personal reflections and observations, as well as a wealth of information on the historical and cultural context of Freemasonry in the Holy Land. It offers a unique perspective on the development and significance of this fraternal organization, and provides valuable insights into the shared history and beliefs of Freemasons and Christians.
