It provides formulas for several types of statically indeterminate structures, which have been deduced by the use of the principle of least work. The formulas include analyses for vertical load in single story frames, multiple story frames, and trestle bents with ties, and for horizontal load in single story frames, octagonal and rectangular reservoirs, and tanks. To put the theoretical formulas to a practical test, the author designed and tested eight reinforced concrete frames. The tests subjected the frames to loads to measure deformation and observe behavior and were used to extrapolate insights into real-world construction. The research presented in this book will be of value to practicing structural engineers and to engineering students interested in the theory and design of reinforced concrete structures.
