Prins offers patterns to trace or copy for 49 projects, nearly all of which require attaching spiky, 3-D rays to one of 24 geometric bases with glued tabs. The models are mostly stars, with the occasional spaceship or alien slipped in. Each comes with clear directions (though no specific advice about gluing technique, which in several cases would have been a great help), plus a color photo of a project that has been finished with almost preternatural neatness. Endowed with titles both descriptive ("Asteroid," "Andromeda Galaxy") and fanciful ("Cimmerian Night," "Galactic Chaos"), the constructs are flashy and--given steady hands, patience, and large quantities of glue--doable.
