About the Author:

Darcy Nikol Bryan, M.D., graduated in 1994 as top scholar at the University of Southern California in two major disciplines, Biology and History, with a minor in Chemistry. She was awarded honorary membership in Alpha Lamda Delta, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key. While at U.S.C. Bryan studied under the honors program of Thematic Options, served on the Dean's Advisory Board of the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, and was a four year Presidential Scholar. During her time at U.S.C., Dr. Bryan was awarded a two year John Randolph and Dora Haynes Foundation Scholarship, the Emma Josephine Bovard Award, i.e., Top Woman Scholar at U.S.C.In 1995, Dr. Bryan went on to attend Yale University School of Medicine and in her fourth year was listed as Medical Student, Excellent-Outstanding. While at Yale, Bryan served as a Liaison for Humanities in Medicine, a Medical Student Council Representative, and Coordinator for Conferences on Health and Human Values. Honors awarded to her while at Yale were the McGraw-Hill Award for Excellent Scholastic Performance and the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine Kidman/Cruise Fellow under Dr. Jonathan S. Berek.As a Kidman/Cruise Fellow at U.C.L.A., she researched and wrote a medical-humanities text entitled Women Warriors: A History of Courage in the Battle Against Cancer in conjunction with Dr. Vernanne Bryan, a doctor of philosophy in Humanities. Darcy now serves as a clinician in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, and oncology and is the CEO of a nonprofit education charitable public benefit organization.Darcy is an articulate and highly personable young woman who thrives on positive human interaction and constructive problem solving.
