Jane Bull has had many years' experience working in children's activity books, thinking up the fantastic ideas for children to create. Her latest books include the award-winning Change Your Room, The Cooking Book, The Gardening Book, The Rainy Day Book, The Sunny Day Book and The Crafty Art Book (published in Autumn 2004). Jane has three children of her own and lives in London. From Booklist:
Gr. 3-6. Bull's sixth activity book for DK, on making "perfect presents," includes 50 enticing projects in needlework, printing, knitting, paper folding, and more. Crisp color photographs allow children to see what they need at a glance. Less effective are the free-wheeling design and the sometimes careless text. In the instructions for knitting stuffed toys, for example, Bull assumes that kids have one red and one yellow needle, as in the pictures. Still, children who like crafts will find numerous ideas here, which will inspire them to honor special occasions with thoughtful handmade tributes. Jennifer Mattson
