Pushing Up Daisies was not only the first book I ever had published - it was also the first one I ever wrote. I was inspired by a two line item in the newspaper abut a mummified body that had been found not far from my home in CT. Much like the amateur sleuth I went on to create I did some snooping and learned that the newspaper didn't tell the whole story. I also learned about something that was buried with the body which turned into one of the clues in my book. I'm very proud to say that Pushing Up Daisies was nominated for both the Anthony and the Agatha Award for Best First Novel 2008.
