From the Author:

Despite the treasury of beautiful photographs Miss Fernande left behind, precious little is known about her. Even Fernande's surname is a mystery. We only know her first name because of a personalized postcard discovered by author Ferruccio Farina. This lack of basic information about a contemporary person--particularly one in the public's eye--is extraordinary.

What we do have is based on a few facts, visual clues in the photographs, and reasonable speculation. It is not much, but enough to create a loose timeline of events and relationships, the basis for Miss Fernande: First Lady of Erotica.

Jean Agelou, or JA as he is called, was a photographer working out of Paris in the early 1900s. His base of operation was JA Studios and his postcards bear the "JA" logo. The bulk of Fernande's work was with JA Studios.

Miss Fernande postcards are a hundred years old or more. As such, they are usually found with some degree of yellowing. In most cases this sepia tone is appealing, however, it is not the way the postcards were originally sold. They were true black and white images. In keeping with this, the sepia tone was corrected out of the two hundred photographs selected for this book. In addition, obvious damage was retouched

The actual dimensions of the postcards are 3.5 x 5.5 inches. I took the liberty of enlarging some of them for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy the photos and novella.
