Author Michael D'Agostino grew up in Lakeland, NY (a small suburb outside of Syracuse). After high school, he attended Penn State University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Atlanta, GA, where he now resides and works as a P.E. teacher assistant at Sate Bridge Crossing Elementary in Alpharetta.
The illustrator, Carmen, also grew up in Lakeland and went to Rochester Institute of Technology after high school where he received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. He majored in Illustration and minored in History. He now resides in Rochester, NY and works as a freelance artist and a company artist for Wegman's Food Markets.
Carmen and Michael actually grew up together and were best friends in grade school. As kids, they began working on stories together, as Mike would do the writing and Carmen would draw the pictures. They even made a pact as children that if they were still writing and illustrating when they became grown-ups, then they would still make books together. Well, after high school they went their separate ways and it was almost 10 years since they saw or talked to each other, but they remembered their childhood dream. Some might say that they are not QUITE grown-ups yet but they have finally achieved that dream.
