Coaching and mentoring are fast becoming essential aspects of modern managerial practice. And with this growth comes an increasing number of students embarking on mentoring courses. Authors Bob Garvey, Paul Stokes, and David Megginson have provided the first authoritative text with a comprehensive overview and critical grounding in the key concepts, models, and research studies in coaching and mentoring. This is an essential tool by which to gain a critical and contemporary understanding of this field.

Bob Garvey is Managing Partner,of The Lio Partnership, a coaching and mentoring consultancy in the UK. He works with a range of people, either one-to-one or in groups. He is an EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council) member and formerly the editor of the International Journal of Mentoring and Coaching. Bob is obsessed with coaching and mentoring!Review:
'My own conclusion is that this book provides useful information and highlights significant aspects for consideration. I had anticipated, from the title and the cover, which looks rather like an old-fashioned, home-made book of recipes (fake handwriting font and fake coffee cup stains on it) more of a practical, how-to-do-it book. It is certainly not that. It will, however, appeal to those with an academic interest in coaching or mentoring and to anyone considering a research study (about anything, as the ideas can be applied to much more than coaching and mentoring)' - Julie Hay
