About the Author

Ira Brown harkey was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He studied history, political science, journalism, and holds degrees from Tulane University and the University of Missouri. A free lance writer in Brussels, Belgium, in 1968, Harkey published articles on NATO, European Common Market, and features in major U.S. and foreign newspapers while on scholarship from the University of Missouri. He won several news and feature writing awards as writer and editor with newspapers in the South and Midwest, including the Davenport, IA, Times-Democrat, Fort Wayne, IN, Journal Gazette, and New Orleans State's Item; and he published articles in U.S. newspapers and specialty magazines (business and education) from 1971 to mid-1990. Harkey left the newspaper business in 1978, and spent 23 years in public relations and technical publications at ingalls Shipbuilding Inc., major U.S. shipbuilder now owned by Northrop Grumman Corp. This is his first novel. Ira Brown lives in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, with his second wife, Helen, and their two daughters, Rachel and Emily.
