Throughout Scripture, we see God inviting people to come to Him. In the Old Testament, we see Him calling Noah to come into the ark to escape the coming judgment. We see Him calling Moses to lead His people out of bondage. Centuries later, we see Him inviting those same people to come back to Him when they had turned away. In the New Testament, we see Christ calling a corrupt tax collector to come down from a sycamore tree and join Him for fellowship. We see Him asking Peter to step out of the boat in faith and come toward Him across the waves. We see Him telling the weary and heavy-laden to come to find rest. And we see Him instructing the disciples to let the children come unto Him. Today, God is still calling us to come to Him. He asks us to come to Him for forgiveness and fulfillment. He invites us to come to Him for peace and rest, to cleanse our hearts from sin, and to find safety in the judgment to come. He desires for us to answer the call to lead and prepare for the work to come. He wants to pick us up when we fall and care for us in our sorrow. And all we have to do is step out in faith and trust Him enough to Come.
