Jill was raised in the small railroad, agricultural and mining town of Edgemont, located on the southwestern fringe of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Her grandparents once owned and operated the small resort that is the inspiration for her story, and sold the first load of ore to the uranium processing mill that was located in Edgemont in the 1950s and ’60s. With a remarkable history like that, she feels it is a natural environment for storytelling and hopes to spin more tall tales of St. Elmo’s Silver Bell Lodge and the southern Black Hills area in the future Jill has been married to her husband, Bill, for over twenty-five years and they have two daughters, Kayla and Deena, and one son, Evan. They presently live in Amarillo, Texas, where Bill is employed as a signal supervisor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
