Master Ren Guangyi is a leading 12th Generation Chen Taiji master, world renowned for his representation of the highest standards of classical Taiji. Professionally trained at China's Chen Village as one of Chen Xiaowang s first disciples, Master Ren underwent full-time training for a decade before settling in the U.S. in 1991. In 2006, Master Ren was the first Taiji exponent to perform Taijiquan on national television in the U.S., appearing on the David Letterman Show with musician Lou Reed's group. He was also the first to exhibit Taiji at New York's Carnegie Hall with Reed. The same year he was personally selected by film director, Darren Aronofsky, as the martial arts trainer and choreographer for Hugh Jackman, the star of Aronofsky's motion picture, The Fountain - the first Hollywood film to feature Chen Taiji, displaying Ren's Compact Cannon Fist performed by Jackman. In 2006, he performed with Reed's group at the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, as the first to display Chen Taijiquan to an international Olympics audience. Master Ren has won various competitive world titles, produced a wide variety of visual training aids, including co-authoring Taijiquan: 38 Form & Applications - one of the first Chen Taiji books in English and has been profiled in cover features in major martial arts publications - including Kung Fu Tai Chi, Qi Magazine and the Journal of Asian Martial Arts - as one of America's most sought after Taiji masters.
