I’m very excited about my book, Fibbers Fables, probably the first of its kind. I’m anxious for everyone to enjoy it. It is chucked full of humorous short stories and serious editorials of famous people not covered by other writers and historians.
My antics as a young boy, historical events probably not known to most, and the Ice Mine my grandfather owned and my Father opened for public viewing, sometimes called the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. This unusual mine produces ice in the summer, but it melts in the winter – a freak of nature. I want you to read about “The Pussy Willow Academy” and my Mother who had 22 births and your author was Number 10.
I want to tell you about my travels in World War II when I served with General Patton in the March to Berlin and my service in the Philippines, where I met Jocko. Also, when I fractured my neck in a car crash and married my nurse. I want you to read about my editor and partner who helped with this book. Why? – Because I’m legally blind and Lena Kite, my editor but most of all, my friend, helped me make this book a reality.
I want you to read about a boy’s stomach during the Great Depression when bread was 5¢ a loaf and we could not afford it. Gasoline was 10¢ a gallon, but we had to drain the tank to measure the gas and figure our mileage to be sure we had enough for a round trip. Model T Fords would deliver 22 miles per gallon of gas and we could stretch this a little with alcohol or kerosene.
