Calling It Off , a volume of heartfelt poetry, highlights the author's sincere attempt to come to terms with a less than desirable childhood, and her further attempt to cultivate an awareness of her place in the sphere of day to day existence. It acknowledges personal tragedies from her past as part of an effort to exorcise the negative influence of unavoidable circumstance, while concurrently integrating these experiences with the here and now.
