Concealed Wounds is a fictional story about a woman named Norah who is a survivor of sexual abuse. Her punshishment for crimes committed against her begin in the first chapter, intentionally titled, "Welcome to the Party!" The chapter title is a dichotomy, because a woman locked in a mental institution, crying out in painful flashbacks, is by no means a literal party. It is setting the stage for the journey, mystery and drama of one woman and a brilliant psychologist's who helps her unravel her Concealed Wounds. Unravel the mysteries which freeze us in fears and doubts. Painful experiences unexpressed fester like an unknown infection inhabitating our mind, body and spirit. Confusion occurs for the survivors and all those around them. Social stigma, lack of knowledge, shame, blame and embarrassment keep all of us quiet. We willingly go about our lives practicing what has been ingrained in our DNA - "See no evil!" "Hear no evil!" "Speak no evil!" Remove the blinders, turn on the lights, and let the words on the pages inspire you to fight. Fight not with fists or angry words, fight with compassion, love and understanding for the survivors who walk next to you, work with you or who pass you as strangers on the street. Concealed Wounds was inspired by the author's fight for survival, healing and seaching for the truth. Wondering where Norah's pathway leads her? Find out in Secret Confessions: Healing the Wounds.
