The Birth of a Nation, a Hero, a Warrior!

They watched as the Indians gathered the few small children not killed and laid them still tied hand and foot over the horse's withers much like one would carry a sack of flour. The children, nine in all including Alexis had also been gagged to keep them quiet. They were seen laying quietly face down except Alexis. She had twice flipped herself over and off the horse and continued to struggle even though her efforts were useless. Finally Awantanoug himself grabbed the young girl, flung her onto his horse and tied her feet to her hands arounf the animal's body so that any further struggling was impossible. Jacob kept screaming out to her, "Alexis, Pa and I will track you down! We will rescue you! Stop fighting them before the kill you! Pa and I will rescue you, I promise!"

From the Author:

It is with deep and compelling desire I have finished this first book in the series ARI'KAS. My many joys in these efforts are constantly fueled by my sheer love of writing and story-telling. It is my goal as a writer to grab my readers undivided attention causing you to become swept up in the characters lives. Realize please, non of what I have written should ever be construed or considered ill directed towards any persons, places or things. I create and delete characters and events at my own discretion through my mind's eye.

From experiences in my own life, I relate much of what I've learned in the past into the story as it contantly develops. I strongly believe I would have enjoyed the earliest days of America's settling and development. Certainly the hardships endured in such a life would be considered unbearable, yet it remains a period in time when truths, values and everyday ethics are exposed for all to plainly see. Yes, I do believe I would have liked those times.

Whatever audience I have been fortunate enough to assemble, I applaud you all with many thanks and blessings. May God permit me more good fortune and imagination to continue my lifes work! ENJOY!

About the Author:

Author and writer Barry J. Neumann hails from East Hampton,Connecticut and happily lives there with his wife Evelyn. For more than forty years, Barry has been an avid outdoorsman. He still fishes competitively throughout his home state in many bass tournaments but has given up the gun and exchanged it for a pen. "My ole dog and I are just too tired to take to the field anymore!" While putting pen to paper and writing these tales, the author enables himself to relive a time of turmoil and trouble in the birth of a new nation. A carpenter by trade and writer by nature, Barry's other works include multiple musical lyrics, poems and magazine articles including The Prince of Pocotopaug, God Save the Northeast and many more.
The author invites you to join him in this fast paced journey that compels the reader to experiance sorrow and joy, fear and tenderness, love and hate. The saga of ARI'KAS begins with this first book, The Little Warrior, and will leave it's readers thirsting for the next in this continuing series.
