Gerald and the Wee People is a novel intended for young adults but readers of all ages will get carried away in the world of the Wee People.
Gerald and his best friend, Vernon literally fall into a new world when responding to a plea for help. A few years prior to that, the boys had discovered an unusual clearing in the woods where only Gerald had the ability to watch the daily activities that took place in a miniature village.
When creatures started attacking the village, Gerald became more and more concerned about the little inhabitants that he had become attached to. Vernon humored his friend but became concerned when Gerald mentioned one of the villagers coming to him and asking for help.
To prove him wrong, Vernon agreed to venture out to the clearing late one night and show Gerald it was all in his imagination. Instead, Vernon was drawn into the enchanted vision and both boys charged off to the rescue.
While in the wee people village, Gerald and Vernon try to fulfill a prophecy overcoming many dangers and obstacles. The boys help the villagers in their fight against the misshapen ones while also trying to defeat a powerful being intent on destroying all life.
The characters in the book come to life and will make you laugh, cry and root for the underdog. Gerald and the Wee People is an action packed fantasy adventure that will keep you spellbound until the last page.

From the Author:
While writing Gerald and the Wee People, I imagined using this book to talk with middle and high school students about the joy of reading. So many kids and young adults have gotten out of the habit of reading books and reading is becoming a dying art.

With the advent of computer games, movies on demand and other electronic gizmos, young people have other ways to occupy themselves. I want them to experience the joy of reading and using their imagination to go places they have never or could never visit.

We are no longer limited by only having to carry around a paper book anymore. With Kindle, Nook, Apple, Sony, etc, books can be carried with us wherever we go. It is important to encourage reading for all ages so great writing will always be appreciated.
About the Author:
While working her way through college, Greta Burroughs taught in a developmental center for handicapped and delayed preschoolers. That is where she developed her love of reading to children and also first started creating her own stories to tell the kids.
After marrying Robert, Greta devoted her time to working with her husband in the field of aviation, maintaining the office and administering FAA written tests. Even during that time with a full time job and other responsibilities, she did not lose her love of children's literature.
After both of them experienced medical problems, Robert and Greta began new careers as writers. Robert has published three novels in his exciting Riders of the Wind series and Greta wrote a series of picture books entitled Patchwork Dog and Calico Cat but did not get them published right away. Instead she devoted her time to her new career as a freelance writer for a local newspaper.
Greta has always loved fantasy novels so in her spare time wrote Gerald and the Wee People for young adults. She is continuing her work with the newspaper and has ideas for other books she intends to write.
Robert and Greta reside in South Carolina with their four-legged children and keep busy at their computers creating articles and books to share with others.
