Eighteen-year-old Mercer Jane Price has been orphaned since early childhood. She was raised by a couple who loved and cared for her with her father's bank acting as legal guardian. All was right in her world. The last few days of high school changed Mercer Jane's life forever. A knife attack by a classmate, a trusted attorney/mentor who began to suggest strange career possibilities, and suddenly it was not so perfect in Oakville.

College was the only constant in the next three years. Murder entered the picture. Friends Ben and Erin were the lifelines that kept her on track, plus endless cups of coffee and several new people she could trust. Mercer Jane was not a poor little match girl, but money really does not solve all problems. Money sometimes increases the danger, as does the occasional explosive.

About the Author:

K. G. Morgen is a woman of a certain age. This is the third novel she has written but the first ever completed. After a forty-year writer's block, it was now or never to complete the task. Those years have been filled by a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Education. Reading Sayers, Christie, Homer, Hesse, and Dostoevsky with a daily N.Y. Times crossword has passed the time. Fiction trumped reality, but there were some biographies, too. She has been proofreader, book reviewer, high school English teacher, and retail manager. Non-print interests included film, televisions, several trips to England, and coming to grips with cyberspace.
