Perhaps nothing can destroy the foundation of our lives more than the death of a child. In Death Becomes Me, author Kelley KeKe Holt writes with profound courage, conviction, anger, spirituality, and even humor about emotionally surviving the death of her fourteen-year-old son, Josh, who died in an automobile accident that seriously injured his younger sister. As KeKe struggles to piece together her life, she finds herself faced with challenges no mother should have to bear, including the termination of her job, the loss of her home, and a heinous legal claim brought by Josh’s biological (and absent) father for death benefits. Despite these obstacles, all compounded by her profound sense of grief, the author felt compelled to not only share these often overwhelming experiences with readers, but also to provide comfort and support to those who grieve. Her message is clear and poignant: Whatever tragedies we face, life does go on.
