About the Author:
Larry J.Wells, MA, LSAC, CAC, NCAC-II, ICADC Recognized as a pioneer in the wilderness based substance abuse treatment industry, his treatment program was featured on KOMO TV in Seattle, in 1989, CBS “Eye on People” in 1996, and Wednesday’s Child on KIFI TV, Idaho Falls, in 1998. He has a BS in Social Work, majoring in Additions Counseling, and an MA in Counseling. He is a Utah Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor, a Certified Addictions Counselor, a National Certified Addictions Counselor Level II and an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Larry, a recovering alcoholic/addict, is the father of eight children. Three of his children fought the demons of addiction. His background in treatment is a combination of personal experience, family experience, education, and professional experience beginning in 1965 as the first Volunteer in Adult Corrections in Idaho. It is his personal experience of recovery, both for his family and himself, that drives his devotion to providing the best opportunity for recovery in treatment for the client. Larry worked as a Drug Counselor, Parole Officer, and Pre-sentence Investigator for the Idaho Department of Adult Corrections. He was featured on Paul Harvey’s“The Rest of The Story” in 1986 for his work in addictions. He is the author of numerous magazine and newspaper articles, three books and has been published in the Journal of Therapeutic Schools and Programs.
