How often do you rock through life thinking everything is grand, and then out of nowhere, smack, you get hit hard? How do you make it through the bad stuff -the really bad stuff ? In her memoir, Hookers, Midgets, and Fire Trucks: An Invitation to Our Party, Linda Gayle Thompson shares how laughing, loving, crying, and honest-to-God begging for answers got her through the absurdity of life, which she equates to a party.

Linda's honest connection with people and her ability to blend zany real-life humor with her passion to motivate others causes the lives she touches to be changed forever. Through the toughest times of her life, Linda discovered her guardian angels and overcame overwhelming grief and depression. Based on the information she has learned, she believes we truly are eternal.

Linda grew up as an insecure child, not realizing her own inner strength until she married her own personal quadriplegic Don Quixote and became his sole caregiver. Thompson shares how absurd humor, tenacious spirit, and guardian angels carried her through a lifetime of one catastrophic blow after another. Hilarious, freakish anecdotes woven together with tragic, real-life experiences and lessons learned from both produce a magical blend of inspiration, tears, and laughter.

From the Author:

Why did you decide to write your memoir and what do you hope your readers gain by it?
The little voice that you hear in your head was not just whispering, it was screaming at me. Then it felt as if I had a foot between my shoulder blades, shoving me, making me write my story. It was a time in my life when I was so depressed I couldn't get out of bed, much less write my life story! But I listened, did it, and here we are!

From the Inside Flap:

How often do you rock through life thinking everything is grand,
and then out of nowhere, smack, you get hit hard? How do you make
it through the bad stuff, the really bad stuff? Linda Gayle Thompson
shares in her memoir, Hookers, Midgets, and Fire Trucks - An invitation
to our party, how laughing, loving, crying, and honest to God begging for answers
got her through the absurdity of life, which she equates to a party.

"...The sun was blindingly bright. I covered my eyes and took three
steps, which brought me to within about ten feet of the hot tub. My
eyes had adjusted to the light and laying face down before me, totally naked,
sound asleep, floating on a plastic raft in the hot tub was Michael, minus
the chicken suit. At that instant, Jace stepped out the back door and quietly
came to stand by my side. Placing his arm around my shoulder Jace
began the dialogue in hushed tones so as not to awaken Michael,
"He has a nice ass, doesn't he Mom?"

"...My favorite character in literature is Don Quixote, The Man of
La Mancha. He was the dreamer of impossible dreams, the slayer of
windmills. He fell in love with a barroom whore, Dulcinea. Don Quixote
believed Dulcinea was a princess and so she became one. Mike was my
personal Don Quixote. He believed anything was possible. I became
the best I could be, because he believed in me. Believing in and showing
love to those you should love the most can turn weakness into power,
insecurities into confidence and fear into bravery. Mike believed in me,
more than I believed in myself, and it was Mike's unwavering confidence
in me, "the yellow bird," that gave me wings to fly."

"...Each day I live on this earth, I attempt to send a positive message to
each and every person I contact. I believe that envisioning light, love, and
laughter for everyone raises the vibration of enlightenment throughout the
world. If my positive thoughts can impact my own life--and I know
they do--then why shouldn't they impact others in the same way? Just as
every atom in my body is a part of me, so are we, each person, a part of the
one, and thus we can each affect the other. We each have a purpose. Can you
imagine how the world would change if each of the billions of people on our
planet would simply send positive energy to each and every person they contact?"
