Mary Jane Sheehy-Moffett Artist and sculptress, her formal indoctrination into Christianity began as a six year old when she was enrolled in Dunblane Hall, of Immaculata Seminary Collage, a Catholic boarding school for girls in Washington, D.C. A persimmon-faced nun told her in class that her mother, who was divorced and remarried with two more children, was, according to gods' law, going to hell. She argued as to why that could be because her mother was nice. But the persimmon retorted, that gods law was gods law and not only that, her two step sisters would never see god but could only spend eternity in limbo because they were bastards by the laws of this same god. The paradox of a loving and cruel god made no sense but peaked the six year olds curiosity about deity throughout her Catholic education into adulthood. She was freed from the permanent scars of cruelty by her father who instilled in her that she had a good mind and the right to question anything, even the opinions of religion. The real force of this right came into full consciousness as the mother of five children, realizing that she was allowing them to be indoctrinated into the same demeaning cruelty. Serious studies of anthropology, geography, psychology, cosmology, ancient cultures, human migrations and European, Jewish, Christian and Islamic history led to an epiphany as she contemplated the microcosm while watching an ant struggle for existence and the macrocosm in contemplating the terrifying vastness of the night sky. There was an intuitive realization of organized religions doctrine of the "all that is" as the false propaganda of a self aggrandizing priesthood. While she had never believed them she had feared their threats. The next-twenty five years were spent in further study in the effort to prove her awareness through historical fact, that gods, all gods were a figment of the human imagination run amuck. The first result for the author was a freedom from sacerdotal imaginary threats of hell- fire and damnation. The second was the hope that she could free her much loved children from the same intimidations and the third was the hope, in the humane sense, of freeing at least one other person by setting forth the history of this priestly hoax in written form.
