Baptism--What a Blessing! moves beyond the traditional arguments about Christian Baptism into a practical study of the nature and meaning of the sacrament. It addresses questions about the practice of infant baptism, especially as people from this tradition interact with or come to join the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, which baptize only confessing adults. The question of baptism for these seekers is framed, not only as a theoretical issue, but as a personal matter, especially by those who have a nominal Christian background in a church which baptized them as infants but who have recently come into a new and more vital relationship with Christ. Thus Baptism--What a Blessing! provides a resource for the pastoral care of these people while making a valuable contribution to a theology of the sacraments in general and of baptism in particular.
